TOURISM IN FIGURES

Sofia boasts a large concentration of sites for year-round recreation, business and entertainment as well as a wide variety of natural and anthropogenic resources, contributing to its recognition as an independent tourist destination with great prospects for development.

Sofia has modern and renovated bed resources. In the central city districts, Sredets Vazrazhdane, Oborishte, Triaditsa are concentrated 58 percent of the tourist sites of the city. In the district of Vitosha are 21 percent of them, while the remaining 21 percent are evenly distributed in the other districts, except in the remote Ilinden and Vrabnitsa Districts, in which there is no accommodation.

By December 2008, the territory of Sofia City Municipality hosted about 265 tourist sites – sheltering facilities and accommodation sites with a total of about 8,500 rooms, and an estimated capacity of 14,200 beds.
